Bradpole Bridport
BRIDPORT
This site was previously occupied by an abandoned cottage and range of derelict agricultural buildings, fronting onto to a lane. The ground behind the buildings was extensive and ran down to a small river. The length of the existing buildings running along the east side of the lane effectively created the character of the local area and so it was decided that the replacement houses would maintain this by locating close to the lane as before. To maximize the size of the proposed houses, each had elements that extended back into the rear gardens to create “L” or “T” shaped linked buildings. The stone from the original buildings was reused to enable the new houses to settle in with their surroundings.
