The building was designed in the Arts & Craft style in 1929 by the Architect MH Baillie Scott as a home for the industrialist FJ Derry.
Planning permission and Listed Building Consent was granted to convert the main house and ancillary stable building into apartments. Permission was also granted to construct a terrace of three new houses in a style that is influenced by the architecture of the main house.
